AVP e.V. has formed a close partnership with the American NGO United Help Ukraine (UHU). The joint project ‘UkraineHilfe Düsseldorf’ serves as a central hub in Europe for the coordination of humanitarian aid for Ukraine. The aim of this initiative is to organise comprehensive support in the form of donations in kind and cash donations and to transport these effectively to Ukraine.

A delegation from UHU, led by its President Maryna Baydyuk, recently visited AVP e.V. in Germany. This visit was an important step for the exchange and further planning of joint humanitarian activities. The delegation also included Natalia Saidoglu, Anna Yabluchanska and Kateryna Zoubak.

An important meeting took place with the Mayor of Düsseldorf, Dr Stephan Keller. Current and future projects were discussed, including the provision of rehabilitation centres and psychological care for Ukrainian children. The city of Düsseldorf is already supporting these efforts, including the provision of a warehouse for the collection and distribution of relief supplies free of charge.

Since the opening of the new warehouse, the project has been able to send over 22 tonnes of donations worth around 47,000 euros to Ukraine. Projects planned for 2024 include professional counselling for Ukrainians in Germany and Ukraine as well as ecological initiatives such as waste disposal projects and nature restoration.

These meetings underline the commitment and determination of both organisations to continue and expand humanitarian aid to Ukraine. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to everyone involved, especially Maryna Baydyuk and her colleagues, as well as the supporters, Mr Keller and all the volunteers and helpers of the project in Düsseldorf and Ukraine.
