The first Eastern Europe Day, hosted at Heinrich-Heine-University, carried the title “Heinrich Heine goes East”. Several AVP e.V. employees participated in order to bring the cooperation with and the chances that research in the Yamal-Nezen region offers closer to students.
The Eastern Europe Day started out with a panel discussion with participants from HHU’s International Office, the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) and the universities of Prague, Krakow, Moscow and Tbilisi. The universities’ representatives introduced the respective institution’s range of studies. After the panel discussion various institutions and universities had the chance to present themselves on the “Marktplatz Osteuropa” (market place Eastern Europe) in the foyer. AVP e.V. is on friendly terms with Yamal, which resulted in the foundation of the organization “Düsseldorf-Jamal”. Since the Siberian region offers numerous possibilities for interesting research in the fields of ecology, biology and geophysics but does not have a university, AVP e.V. introduced the scientific-technical cooperation based on research stations. Additionally, the AVP e.V. booth offered information on studying at the universities of Tomsk, Yekaterinburg, St. Petersburg and Yaroslavl.
